“The Israeli-Jewish Congress (IJC) Hosts Leading Members of the Belgium Jewish Community for High-Level Meetings at the Knesset”:

Het Israeli-Jewish Congress (IJC) heeft vertegenwoordigers van de Belgische Joodse Gemeenschap uitgenodigd voor vergaderingen met prominente vertegenwoordigers van de Knesset in Jeruzalem.
De heer Eli Ringer was hierbij aanwezig als Erevoorzitter van het Forum der Joodse Organisaties en woonde de vergaderingen bij met o.a. Avraham Neguise , Absorption & Diaspora Affairs (Knesset); Nurit Koren, Israël – Belgium Parliamentary Friendship Group (Knesset); Michael Aendenhof, Political and Economic Affairs (Amb. van België in Israël).

De vergaderingen hadden betrekking op de uitdagingen van het joodse leven in België (m.n. de shechita, besnijdenis enz…), het antisemitisme, de versterking van de band tussen Israël en de Joodse gemeenschap van België, evenals wegen om de diplomatieke betrekkingen tussen Israël en België te versterken, en de uitdagingen waarmee de Belgische Joodse gemeenschap in het immigratie- en absorptieproces naar Israël wordt geconfronteerd. …


The Israeli-Jewish Congress (IJC) was honored to host in Israel this week representatives of the Belgian Jewish community, for high-level meetings at the Knesset in Jerusalem.

The delegation, which included the heads of the Forum of Jewish Organizations (FJO) and the Association of Belgian Immigrants to Israel, met with Member of Knesset Avraham Neguise, who is the Chairman of the Knesset Committee for Immigration, Absorption & Diaspora Affairs, and with Nurit Koren, the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset and Chairperson of the Knesset Israel – Belgium Parliamentary Friendship Group. The group was accompanied by Mr. Michael Aendenhof, the Counsellor for Political and Economic Affairs at the Belgian Embassy to Israel.

During the meeting, a number of important issues were discussed, including challenges to Jewish life in Belgium, Antisemitism, reinforcing the connection between Israel and the Jewish community of Belgium, as well as ways to strengthen Israel – Belgium diplomatic relations and the challenges facing the Belgian Jewish community in the immigration and absorption process to Israel.

The meetings were very productive, with a number of important strategies and tangible action items discussed. The IJC looks forward to continuing to act as a bridge between the Jewish community of Belgium and the State of Israel, by working together to reinforce this special bond, empower the Jewish community and strengthen ties between Israel and Belgium.
